It’s been less than a year since The Pleasures dropped their brilliant debut album, The Beginning of the End.
Now they’re back with a brand new song, Let’s Go Again, a fitting title, as that’s exactly what they intend to do!
Out now on all digital platforms, Let’s Go Again is the first release from their imminent second album.
The lyrics, although not necessarily intentional, could be used to sum up The Pleasures’ story so far, particularly when Catherine sings:
We didn’t ever plan for things to go this way
But I’m here, and you’re here,
and all I really wanna say is
Let’s go again!
Americana meets early-2000s indie—rock here. A signature guitar-and-organ riff kicks things off before dual lead singers Catherine Britt and Lachlan Bryan trade verse lines and chorus harmonies, all backed by heavy-hitting rhythm section Brad Bergen and Damian Cafarella.
The new single drops as the band are enjoying their first headline tour of the UK and their first tour in Scandinavia.
It’s been a whirlwind journey for The Pleasures so far. Formed almost by accident just a couple of years ago, they have swiftly made waves, garnering rave reviews for their live show and debut album The Beginning of the End, which was released in August 2023. Since then they’ve appeared on major country, roots and folk festivals, toured not only in Australia but also the UK and the USA. They were invited to showcase at Folk Alliance International in Kansas City In February (where they were a critics choice for FAI highlight) and they’ll be heading back to the USA to officially showcase at AmericanaFest in Nashville in September.
Radio in Australia, the UK and the USA have been kind to date. They scored Album of the Week on ABC Country, a feature spot on Triple R’s Soundscapes and great support across community radio and the ABC, including a live set for ‘Thank God Its Friday’ at the Pavilion Performing Arts Centre with Richard Glover and Wendy Harmer. The singles from the album were added to ABC and Double J, CMT, iHeart Radio and featured on The Music and shows across the BBC in the UK.
Notably they enjoyed a triumphant three-month stay on the Americana Association Official Albums Chart in the USA with more than 50 reporting stations getting on board.
The band was nominated for Best Group and Best Album Awards in 2024 at the CMAA Golden Guitars, and delivered a killer live performance at the Awards event.
“They burned their stage down with country rock that sounds like they should own Nashville, Austin and Memphis while only going back Down Under for occasional visits. The Pleasures’ new album “The Beginning of the End” rivals their live performance for exciting sound and fury. Easily a personal choice for best of 2024 FAI.” – Doug Hill – The Norman Transcript
Let’s Go Again is out now via MGM Distribution.
