A Welcome to Country Ceremony at Perth’s Kings Park kicked off UFC 305 fight week as the fighters showed their respects to the traditional owners and custodians of the land that they will compete on this Sunday.
The New Zealand visitors, led by former Middleweight Champ and card headliner Israel Adesanya, received a special welcome with Adesanya looking his usual relaxed and jovial self throughout the proceedings. Adesanya’s opponent and current Middleweight Champion, Dricus Du Plessis, was the last to arrive and maintained his distance, holding himself with a quiet, reserved energy; almost contradictory to his typical fight style.
Despite the respectful initiation, ‘respect’ will likely be the last word raised in the upcoming days as this heated rivalry becomes closer and closer to reaching a fever pitch inside the Ultimate Fighting Championship cage.
