Dramatic let-your-hair-down rock, Wasted Sunrise is a song to turn up loud – a song about waiting for the wrong kind of love. Unicorn’s forthcoming single Wasted Sunrise is set for release on Tuesday, 13 February 2024. With bitter top notes, a bleeding heart, and a confident crescendo, Wasted Sunrise will leave you feeling strong and empowered – a poignant point of the song. Jenna Hardie, songwriter explains, “I find the magic and the curse of love to be a curious one, often with confusing and conflicting emotions. This song reflects that in its juxtaposing desire and disappointment, waiting and wanting yet knowing it is all a ruse. Building personal confidence despite the chaos in the heart is what it’s all about”.
Recorded with Spacey Jane sound engineer Dave Parkin at Blackbird Sound Studio, Wasted Sunrise is reminiscent of 90’s grunge songs with heady influences from Weezer and Breeders. Goth grunge rock band, Unicorn supported Jebediah’s ‘Gum up the bearings’ tour, a sold out show at The Rechabite as part of WAMFest in November, and finished 2023 on a high, supporting 90’s electropunk pop band Def FX at Badlands Bar. Unicorn recently released a music video for their 2023 song Twisted with over 23,000 views since December. Unicorn will celebrate the release of Wasted Sunrise with shows in Fremantle and Bunbury in the coming weeks.
