Though music is his first passion, award-winning artist ZIGGY ALBERTS has also been thriving as a writer in recent years, with poetry becoming a natural extension of his songwriting expression. Releasing his second published book of poems in sun memos, Alberts takes another step forward in this creative exploration of thoughts, observations and anecdotal storytelling.
Much like his music, sun memos is a personal and intimate effort from Alberts, whose artistry has become adored the world over; largely down to his ability to connect with a diverse audience wherever he travels.
Says Alberts of sun memos. “Writing poetry has nothing to do with publishing it. Writing poetry is what music has been for me since the very beginning; an outpour. Minimal planning, maximum emotion. Like my first book, brainwaves, this is another thoughtfully independent project made possible by my family and friends at Commonfolk Publishing. Looking forward to connecting with you all for the second time, and again.”
The release of sun memos coincides with a run of in-store book signing sessions in May and June; an opportunity for Alberts and his fans to connect over the material and share in the words together. The book tour starts in Sydney, continuing through Adelaide and Melbourne, before finishing with two dates in Queensland – dates can be found below.
2024 is a busy and fruitful time for Alberts, as his new music is pushing him into a new phase of fulfilment and inspiration. With Gold, Platinum and Double Platinum records to his name, Alberts is well-versed in how quickly the music industry can move; how quickly music and art cycles come and go. Still, his latest music in ‘NEW LOVE’ has proven that his sound is timeless and with more to come, it’s an exciting time to see where Alberts is headed next.
