Nothing More’s latest album, Carnal Deluxe, feels like a concept record at times, packed with melody and unforgettable hooks from start to finish. I’ve been watching this band live for about a decade. The first time I saw them, I didn’t quite get it, but over the years, their music and performances have clicked for me in a big way.
What sets Nothing More apart is that they’re not your typical heavy metal band. They skip the growling “cookie monster” vocals and aggression of some modern metal acts, which I appreciate. Instead, they deliver incredible melodies, massive choruses, and top-tier songwriting. Many of these tracks—like the anthemic sing-alongs—feel tailor-made for their explosive live shows. Listening to this album, I can already picture the pyro and punchy moments they’ll bring to the stage.
There’s not a weak track here; every song is well-crafted. Standouts for me include the opener House of Sand, which sets the tone perfectly, along with Angel Song, Blame It on the Drugs (my current favorite), Run For Your Life, and Freefall. These songs showcase the band’s knack for blending intensity with accessibility.
This album fits seamlessly into Nothing More’s evolving sound and has me pumped for festival season. It captures the energy I love in today’s rock scene, and Nothing More remains one of the best bands out there. The physical release is a treat too—white vinyl, a gatefold with lyrics and liner notes. As someone who grew up poring over album details, I love that touch.
Carnal Deluxe is a highlight of 2025 so far, and I’m betting these songs will dominate their live sets this year. Do yourself a favor: grab the album and a ticket to see them live. They’re something special.
