Australian Tourism Awards Crown BIRDSVILLE BIG RED BASH As The Best Festival & Event In Australia

Gold Award for Best Festival & Event in Australia

The Birdsville Big Red Bash (QLD) was officially crowned Australia’s BEST Festival & Event – taking home GOLD at the prestigious Australian Tourism Awards on Friday March 21st.

The Birdsville Big Red Bash is the world’s most remote music festival and celebrates the spirit of adventure, community and world-class entertainment in a breathtaking location in the Simpson desert in Outback Queensland. Winning this national award is recognition for the hard work and dedication of the team from the Outback Music Festival Group, as well as the hundreds of volunteers who support them and the artists and passionate festival-goers who make the event truly unforgettable.

“We are beyond honoured to receive this recognition at the highest level,” said Greg Donovan, Big Red bash founder and Managing Director of the Outback Music Festival Group.  “This award is a celebration of the unique experience that the Big Red Bash offers – bringing people together in one of Australia’s most remote and awe-inspiring locations to enjoy music, culture and connection.  And it’s also a rewarding pat on the back for our team who go above and beyond to ensure festival goers have a truly bucket-list experience.”

“We hope this award further cements the Big Red Bash as a must-attend event on the Australian festival calendar. We extend our gratitude to everyone who has been part of this journey and congratulate all the finalists, which included our sister event the Broken Hill Mundi Mundi Bash, for their outstanding contributions to Australia’s tourism industry,” added Greg Donovan.

The Birdsville Big Red Bash event is taking a one year breather in 2025, with special John Williamson Big Red Sunset Concerts being staged this July 8 & 9, right atop the iconic Big Red sand dune to keep the Bash spirit alive in the Simpson desert.

The July 8 date is already SOLD OUT and tickets to the July 9 event are flying out the door.
