Aussie rock powerhouse, Baby Animals, are thrilled to unleash their full throttled version of their new single ‘Ace of Spades’. The Motörhead song is one of rock & roll’s most beloved and sacred anthems. Covering the bombastic ode is a heavy crown to bare and Baby Animals have kicked ass with their recording!
Says the band, “We were thinking about doing a cover for the new album and were going back & forth for ages. Then when Ricki Rae was on tour with The Living End (doing FOH sound), he asked the boys if Baby Animals were to do a cover, what would you suggest. Chris Cheney said he’d love to hear us do Ace of Spades. We started to imagine how we could make it work for us, so we took it as a challenge and dragged Chris in as well – as it was his idea in the first place. And here we are!”
It’s been a while between albums and ‘Ace of Spades’ is the first of two singles the band will put out this year. There will be a full album released in early 2026.
It has been 30 years since one of Australia’s most revered rock bands, Baby Animals, burst onto the scene with the release of their 8x Platinum, ARIA Award winning, self-titled debut album, featuring iconic hits ‘Rush You’, ‘Early Warning’, ‘Painless’ and ‘One Word’. The band was touring with Van Halen in the US when they heard the album had topped the charts, ‘Baby Animals’ spending six weeks at number one in Australia and keeping Nirvana’s ‘Nevermind’ out of top spot. The album went eight times platinum and won three ARIA Awards – Best Album, Best Debut Album and Best Debut Single.
Baby Animals have just come off a massive Red Hot Summer Tour with Icehouse & Noiseworks and are hitting the road again with the legendary ZZ Top, George Thorogood & The Destroyers plus The Living End, Rose Tattoo & Dallas Frasca. This is part of the next Red Hot Summer Tour series, and it kicks off at Bendigo Racecourse on Saturday 26th April then heads to Mornington Racecourse, Roch Estate Hunter Valley, Stuart Park Wollongong and finishes up with two shows at Sandstone Point Hotel Bribie Island.
