Black Stone Cherry and Mascot Records have released ‘This is Black Stone Cherry’s RSD Album. The Band Really Likes It’ to all DSPs today. The compilation was released in physical configurations tied to Record Store Day on April 12. The move has been made to place it on all digital platforms so the broader global fan base can enjoy the repertoire curated for this special release.
In front of RSD, the band shared, “We are so honoured, and excited, to finally have something to offer as a special Record Store Day Release! As vinyl lovers, collectors, and ambassadors for any local record shop out there, this is something we have wanted to do for many years. We have put an incredible collection of songs together for this. Some live, some collaborations, some unreleased! We hope you like it! As the title says, we really do!”
The band offer, “We all suffer loss throughout life, coming through that to the other side often brings out a lot of emotions and feelings. ‘I miss you’ is those feelings wrapped inside a song.”
When this title was first revealed, the band and Mascot Records presented an unreleased recording titled “Have You Ever Been Lonely”. Black Stone Cherry share, “’Have You Ever Been Lonely’ is a song of hope, reminding us that even in our loneliest hour someone else has felt that and it is always worth it to keep moving.”
This collection includes B-sides, covers, live tracks, and previously unreleased songs taken from the band’s expansive discography together for the first time on a limited-edition vinyl. The new release has been approached as a limited edition run on the physical side with compact discs and a limited run of 3,000 white and black smoke marble vinyl available worldwide. Some of these songs were previously released as bonus tracks taken from deluxe configurations of BSC’s catalogue. Other tracks are previously unreleased live recordings. Side A contains the studio tracks (bonus tracks, B-sides, Cherryfied covers of The Cult, Tina Turner and Tracy Chapman, plus guest vocals from Ayron Jones, John Cooper (Skillet), Jesse Leach (Killswitch Engage), and Lzzy Hale (Halestorm). Side B has the live tracks. This is the first time that all of these tracks will be available in one physical collection.
The release also features the latest version of ‘Out Of Pocket’, with guest vocals from Jesse Leach of Killswitch Engage. The original recording has been streamed five million times, while cumulative plays across all DSPs of the tracks on latest album Screamin’ At The Sky now exceeds 25 million total streams. Total streams for the songs on prior album The Human Condition now exceed 80 million plays.
In the past two decades, BLACK STONE CHERRY have set a new standard for Southern rock, revitalizing the tradition with its burly riffs and stirring rock hooks. The four-piece consists of Chris Robertson, vocals/guitar; Ben Wells, guitar/vocals; and John Fred Young, drums and Steve Jewell Jr. on bass/backing vocals.
The complete track listing features “American Horse (feat. John Copper of Skillet and Ayron Jones),” “Out Of Pocket (feat. Jesse Leach),” “What’s Love Got To Do With It,” “Give Me One Reason (The Plug),” “Have You Ever Been Lonely,” “I Miss You,” “When The Pain Comes – Live,” “Peace Is Free – Acoustic (Feat.
