INTERVIEW: GOTTHARD – NIC MAEDER talks all about new album ‘STEREO CRUSH’

GOTTHARD are back! Following the last album “#13,” almost five years ago to the day, the band have 12 brand new songs ready to go. There’s a Beatles cover version and of course the latest single ‘Thunder & Lightning,’ which premiered in January and really hit the mark.  With huge variety, from opener ‘AI And I’ to the sentimental ballad ‘Burning Bridges’ and the retrospective storytelling of ‘Liverpool’ as well as the harmonica-driven conclusion ‘These Are The Days’ the group have managed to masterfully create a collection which is powered by all of their strength and experience of more than three decades.

I’ve always known the Swiss knew how to Rock, and my early years were filled with the sounds of Krokus. Since 1992 Gotthard has produced consistently wonderful albums and this latest release has to be up there with their very best, ‘Stereo Crush’ might just be their best collection of songs this side of the millennium” THE ROCKPIT – Mark Diggins 9/10

After hearing the album we had to talk to Nic about the new songs, the tour, and other Gotthard news. As Aussie Rock fans will know Nic used to be in the band ‘Maeder’ (who back in the day I saw in Melbourne and Sydney) before he got the call up to replace the wonderful Steve Lee in Gotthard who sadly passed in 2010. This just might be the band’s best album since ‘Need to Believe’! And I really mean that.
