Haylee Robins is a singer/songwriter born and raised in Perth, Western Australia. Haylee cut her teeth singing in her first cover band at 16 and quickly progressed to writing lyrics. In 1999 and at 20 years of age, Haylee first entered the recording studio with her original band Cactus Lush.
Haylee is a prolific songwriter who continued to write during her hiatus from the music scene while raising a family. Her songwriting regained strength in 2020 when she helped form the original Perth band ‘Bohemian Crash’. Though short lived, an ep was released containing the single White Lake 69.
In October 2021, Haylee was involved in the Perth United project to raise money for Telethon. The result of this collaboration was the release of the song Diamond Child which gained radio play on local radio station 107.3 HFM. Haylee released her first solo EP ‘Passing Time’ in December 2022. Containing 4 songs, the ep was recorded, mixed and mastered by Daniel Connell from Perth bands Black Kanyon and Amberdown.
In May 2023, Haylee began working with Kav Temperley from the ARIA award winning band Eskimo Joe. Working from his studio in Fremantle, Kav recorded, produced, and mixed two songs with Haylee. The first song ‘Shallow’ was released in Nov 2023. The second song, ‘Torn Apart’ will be released on 7th February 2025.
Torn Apart features Kav Temperley on guitar and bass. Eskimo Joe drummer, Paul Keenan features on drums. Haylee’s vocals are complimented by the soft yet driving sounds crafted by these seasoned musicians. Her soulful vocals are given space to convey raw emotion.
‘Torn Apart’ is an upbeat song with a deep undercurrent of passion and heartbreak. ‘Torn Apart’ is a song that weaves a story of love and loss. ”Torn Apart was written about a great love that changed my life. I gave my time, my strength, my youth. Then I knew that it was over when he stopped trying & I stopped saying that’s ok. It was many years ago but I always knew I would write a song about him one day.”
‘Torn Apart’ is available on all streaming platforms from 7 February 2025.
