ZIGGY ALBERTS Unveils Highly Anticipated Seventh Studio Album ‘NEW LOVE’

If albums are snapshots of an artist’s creative journey, then ZIGGY ALBERTS’ output paints a portrait of one that has had many different and exciting turns. The award-winning Australian artist is truly a global citizen these days, with his music and words giving him the opportunity to do laps around the world, nourishing a mode of connection with fan bases throughout North and South America, Europe, the UK, Asia and of course, his beloved home turf community.

From his early days busking on the streets of Australia’s Byron Bay, Alberts has always understood the power of direct connection with his audience. His rise has been driven not only by his emotionally resonant folk songs but by his determination to bring his music to fans face-to-face. Now a decade into his career, he has grown his fanbase the old-fashioned way: by playing show after show, year after year, turning small rooms into sold-out venues across the globe.

With the close of another summer season, Ziggy now reaches a new milestone – the release of his seventh album, NEW LOVE. It is an album full of insightful observations on life and the ever changing world we live in; more importantly, the album holds a mirror up to the beauty and flaws of the human condition. Such themes have maintained presence in Ziggy’s catalogue to date but with New Love, he displays continued maturity in his songwriting skills but also his world view.

Ziggy has described this album as a sister record to his 2018 ARIA Gold-Certified album, LAPS AROUND THE SUN. Written in different locations that stretched across the UK and Europe, before returning to Australia’s East Coast, New Love is a collection of material that brings vibrant acoustic melodies together with soaring arrangements that bolster Ziggy’s moments of introspection.

Authenticity remains at the core of the music, with tracks like ‘Outlaw’ and ‘Where Does The Love Go?’ leading with transparency and a heartfelt tone. Songs like ‘Addicted’ and ‘Blessings’ highlight the dynamism of Ziggy as a musician and songwriter, while moments of intimacy felt on tracks such as ‘Feeling Blue’ and ‘I’m With You’ make it impossible as a listener, not to be captivated.

“This album marks a return to simplicity, to a time when life was led by magic and adventure, and finding joy in chaos. We tested every song, making sure they were right for the live space, and kept the process pure without overcomplicating things. We made sure to preserve the magic of the record, resisting the urge to overproduce. It’s a spiritual sequel to Laps Around The Sun, in that sense it is simplistic and anthemic by choice which is really hard to do, so I’m very proud of that.” ZIGGY ALBERTS

The album’s structure, split between a warm, folk-inspired Side A and a more expansive, rock-and-country-influenced Side B, mirrors the duality of life.

Side A represents the light, or North, with songs that feel familiar and intimate; while Side B ventures into darker tones and broader instrumentation, representing the South. It’s this balance that makes ‘New Love’ feel cohesive, giving the album a sense of being made to be listened to in its entirety, much like the records that inspired Alberts early on in his career.

The album’s bright and infectious focus track ‘Learn Yourself’ details the importance of self-empowerment and Ziggy’s process of reconnecting with himself through mediation. Written amid the creative and touring whirlwind of his 2023 world tour, the song reflects the clarity and resilience he found in daily rituals that anchored him through a year of cross-continent movement. Released alongside the album is a beautifully shot music video that offers an intimate glimpse into the rhythm of his album recording process – flowing from sunrise yoga sessions, breathwork and ice baths, before stepping into the studio, where inspiration takes shape in sound. The video perfectly captures the song’s essence, bringing its warmth and introspective energy to life.

“The song is about learning and understanding yourself. I often believe I have to move mountains, to change so greatly, and then I will receive happiness in the future. It turns out more often than not, that I just need to meditate and reconnect with myself and nature, wherever I am. It’s got this super sweet vibe- we call it my Disney song” ZIGGY ALBERTS

2024 was a busy year for Ziggy, with the release of stunning music in singles including ‘Where Does The Love Go?’ and ‘New Love’, and his 2025 release ‘I’m With You’.

The release of ‘I’m With You’ and ‘New Love’ alone have drawn strong numbers on streaming platforms; ‘I’m With You’ has accrued over 1.4 million streams across DSPs since its January release, while ‘New Love’ currently sits at 6.5 million streams across DSPs and counting. Altogether, Ziggy’s catalogue has amassed over a billion streams worldwide.  Additionally, the music has been receiving strong airplay across Australian and international markets, adding to the excitement building up to this ‘New Love’ era.

Last year, Ziggy performed headline sets as part of the Summersalt Festival series across Australia with James Bay and Matt Corby, as well as a massive show at Bluesfest Byron Bay. The 2024 ‘New Love World Tour’ saw him take on some incredible shows across Europe and North America, selling out shows in Vienna, as well as twice over in Amsterdam and Mexico City. 2025 is set to be his biggest to date, with his debut performance at Bonnaro Music & Arts Festival in the USA and his career defining headline show at the iconic Royal Albert Hall in London.
