SAM FLETCHER releases sophomore EP ‘West of the Mountains’

“West Of The Mountains” is Sam Fletcher’s sophomore EP. The collection features an alt-country title track, singer-songwriter ballads Little Village and Winter Leaves, and a nod to his rock roots with Keep An Ember and The Storm.

The EP marks an evolution in Sam’s songwriting story, as he explores themes of personal growth and development, the transition from childhood to adulthood, and navigating relationships.

“My concept of the West Of The Mountains EP is: I begin as a child, (east of the mountains) described in Little Village. I encounter challenges as I enter adulthood, (crossing the mountains), and I end at peace with myself at the end of this journey, (west of the mountains).” – Sam Fletcher

The title track of the EP follows the journey of a young man on his quest to find existential answers. When our protagonist takes a chance at finding love, only to face the pains of rejection, he must learn to find peace in presence and contentment within himself. The result of this emotional exploration is a coming of age soundtrack, effusive with motifs of starry-eyed youth, first loves and heart ache.

Sam wrote this alt-country ballad while working in Australia’s Snowy Mountains, inspired by such and his own personal experiences. Abbie Fearns’ vocal harmonies elevates the song to new heights and provide a sonic canvas never before explored in Sam’s burgeoning musical career. Most elements within West Of The Mountains were recorded independently by Sam in various locations, and drums were recorded at A Sharp Studios.

Apart from Sam’s recordings within track 1, tracks 1-4 were recorded and mixed by Matt Stewart at A Sharp Studios and Kiln Studios, with Russell Fletcher on guitars and bass, Tim Geldens on drums and Sam Fletcher on vocals and guitars. Abbie Fearns provides vocal harmonies on track 1.Track 5 was recorded and mixed by Benjamin Worsey at Everland Studios, featuring Galen Fletcher on guitar, Lucius Thangathurai on drums, Russell Fletcher on bass and Sam Fletcher providing vocals and guitars.
