Hypnotic indie band Playing To Vapors release live music video, stream debut album

Playing To Vapors

Celebrating the release of their debut album Shred The Master Design, Columbus-based, indie pop quintet Playing To Vapors has released a live music video for the album’s title track. The video was produced by Flicker-Lit Productions as part of their ongoing Ballroom Revival Sessions and presented by In The Record Store: The Podcast.

We filmed the ‘Shred The Master Design’ performance not long after tracking the studio version, so you can still feel how fresh the new song was to all of us,” says vocalist Lucas Harris. ” It was also back when I had crazy long hair!

The band also just premiered the full stream of their new record on PopMatters.com. “It’s become commonplace for some bands to walk the line between the worlds of the arty and the accessible but to do it as successfully as this collective has is anything but common,” says PopMatters writer and NPR host Jedd Beaudoin.

Harris adds “With ‘Shred The Master Design’ we sought to throw out many of the practices we’d used in the past to make a record (hence the title). It was the first album we’d recorded to tape, many of the decisions were made in the moment, and songs were literally crafted as we were tracking them. Our producer Josh Antonuccio was all about capturing performances, and bringing out the energy that he saw from us live. This gave the album a raw aesthetic that can be heard on many of the tracks.

Shred The Master Design is available now on iTunes and Bandcamp.
