Brisbane locals The Jensens are today thrilled to announce their brand new single ‘Emotion’. The five-piece recently celebrated on the weekend by bringing their dynamic live show to The Foundry in Brisbane, along with special guests The Ruminaters, Astro Travellers, M.C.K.C, Concrete Surfers, Romeo Moon, and Pool Shop.

“Emotion is about how everything is falsifiable,” says the band of the track. “You could put your trust in one thing today, and another tomorrow, and then in a year realise it was all a waste of time – but also how there’s really no such thing as wasting time.”

“It’s about being entranced and obsessed, feeling unnatural and rejecting the soul in favour of an image.

Fear that living life through a lens will cause emotions to fade and detract from what is essential.” ‘Emotion’ was largely recorded in the band’s own home studio, with additional recording at Plutonium and Bedlam studios. With a helping hand from Steve Kempnich (Morning Harvey, Orphan Orphans), the track was entirely self-produced and engineered by the band, and features Jack Hunter on bongos and Julian Palma on saxophone.

Formed out of friendship and a desire to authentically express their shared musical ideals, The Jensens have captured the attention of the Australian music scene with their efforts both on stage and in the studio. Having always felt at home on the stage, it is the band’s dynamic live show that ultimately lies at the centre of their appeal.

Their debut release ‘Everybody Talks’ showcased eight tracks of short, sharp rock, shining a light on the band’s impressive songwriting ability and chemistry developing in their formative years. The release caught the attention of Triple J, with singles ‘Shark Thunder’ and ‘Fears’ receiving multiple spins at the station. Following up their debut earlier this year was EP ‘Sexless’, signaling an evolution in sound and songwriting for the band with emphasis on their more melancholic side and love for close harmonies.

Both releases have seen the five-piece share the stage with some impressive names, including Last Dinosaurs, Spiderbait, The Vaccines, Twim Peaks, The Delta Riggs, Saskwatch, and Art of Sleeping. The band are also no stranger to festival stages, scoring slots on lineups such as Blurst of Times, Valley Fiesta, Jungle Love, and the inaugural Grampians Music Festival.

Taking a break from the live circuit, the band set up a home studio to focus solely on writing and recording new music. With newly finished single ‘Emotion’ set for release, the band has taken in a wider scope of influences resulting in a more colourful and progressive sound. Returning to the stage in 2017, The Jensens will deliver an expanded live show featuring new music and additional players.
