Fremantle band Figurehead release new single ‘Teachers Pet’

Figurehead

The last time we heard from Figurehead was with the single Suits. That was earlier this year. Since then the boys have head they’re collective heads down, doing their best to complete year 12.

Thanks right music fans, they’re still in school ties and long socks but don’t let that fool you…. these boys can rock!

To get you up to speed here’s the low down – hometown is Fremantle WA. Matt and Josh started jamming in primary school, as did Ross and Chet. These pre teen rockers came together during Rockscholars (music mentoring program) and have been making music as Figurehead ever since.

They scored 2 nominations for WAM Song of the Year 2015 in the 16-17 categories. The lads also made it to the Finals of the The Big Splash 2016, band competition out of 217 entries.

Figurehead dish out the dirt about classroom dynamics with the brand new single ‘Teachers Pet’ – their first release from their forthcoming second EP. It’s a subject matter we can all relate to. Whist writing Teachers Pet the boys channeled mid 90’s Alt rock faves such as Fountains of Wayne & Wheatus.

Lets hear it straight from the Horses mouth –

“Teacher’s Pet is those kids at school that pretend to be best friends with the teacher to try and bump their self esteem or to manipulate their grades or even just because they don’t have any other friends.

At first I found them annoying and at times amusing, but i came to find that its in my best interest to be friends with the teacher as it could infact make school a tad easier. At the end of the day i feel we all teacher’s pets and that doesn’t matter.”
