After several performances around Perth in 2024 both in acoustic form, and fronting his band Clay Brown & the Trouble Round Town, as well as releasing his debut single ‘Traffic Signs’ in August with supporting shows in London, Clay Brown is poised to release his second single ‘Homesick Blues’.
A relatable story for anyone missing their true home, Clay puts himself in the shoes of his late-mother Rose fleeing from an unsafe Tanzania in the 70s to move to London, the subsequent culture shock, missing her true home and eventually meeting the person who will cure those ‘Homesick Blues’.

Perth- based Brown, has played everything, been everyone, except himself – until now. Recognised as one of Perth’s best and most versatile guitarists, in the last ten years he’s blasted out indie shoegaze with The Limbs, played lead guitar in The Silent Deeds, grunged it up with Filth Wizard, and is currently an integral part of Jazz Fusion band King Proteus & heavy stoner rock band MAGE. In one way or another, all of these bands are noteworthy in the Perth music scene and all of them owe that noteworthiness, at least in part, to Brown.
Brown’s mother’s cancer diagnosis in 2023 and subsequent passing saw him grieving through poetry, then lyrics, and was the catalyst for him to begin writing his first full set of solo songs. After several performances around Perth and releasing his debut single ‘Traffic Signs’ in August 2024, Clay Brown is now a solo artist in his own right, performing both in solo acoustic form, and fronting his band ‘Clay Brown & the Trouble Round Town’, pouring his love and grief into the most important step yet in his musical career.
