West Australian indie outfit South Summit have gone from strength to strength over the last few years. Bursting onto the scene in 2021, the 5-piece have found themselves at the forefront of the Australian indie scene, ticking off a long list of bucket list moments (including a headline show at the Sydney Opera House earlier this year) that most young bands can only dream of.

Adding to that list of achievements is the band’s performance this morning on triple J’s Like A Version, which saw the band play through a reggae-focussed version of the 1978 classic ‘Roxanne’ by The Police. Paired along with a live version of ‘The Bliss’ single ‘Givin’ It Up’, the band’s Like A Version provides a glimpse into ‘The Bliss’; an LP that sonically delves into reggae, indie rock and hip-hop styles throughout its eclectic tracklist.

To celebrate the release of ‘The Bliss’, the band have today announced their Australian and New Zealand headline tour, set for February 2025. Throughout the tour the band will be hitting stages in Wellington, Auckland, Christchurch,  Brisbane, Sydney, Newcastle, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

“We’re super looking forward to our AUS/NZ Album Tour next February/March! These are by far the biggest headline shows we’ve ever played, and we can’t wait to get out there and see everyone again. These shows feel a little extra special though, it’s been a while since we’ve toured the whole country, and showcasing our debut album is something we’ve been looking forward to for a long time. We’ve got a brand new live show for you guys, and plenty more treats for ya! See you guys on the road.” SOUTH SUMMIT

Recorded at Perth’s Blackbird Sound Studio, with producer Dave Parkin (Spacey Jane) and mastering engineer Brian Lucey (Post Malone, The Black Keys), ‘The Bliss’ showcases a wide range of influences from within the band, making a conscious effort to explore new sounds whilst staying true to their roots.

“The Bliss” is a fresh new sound to our fans. We mixed up happy and sad vibes, and everything in between. We had a blast experimenting with new sounds and pushing the limits of our production and live performance in the studio. We like to call this vibe a mixture of everything we’re excited about right now, while keeping a hint of our classic South Summit feel.” JOSH TRINDALL, SOUTH SUMMIT

South Summit have become a mainstay on the Australian live circuit in recent years; completing their triple j-backed debut national tour at the tail-end of 2023;  establishing themselves as festival favourites with appearances at Falls Festival, Groovin The Moo, Party In The Paddock, SXSW Sydney and Out Of the Woods Festival; and hitting the road on tour with the likes of Coterie, Beddy Rays, and recently tour with the Cat Empire across Europe.

The engaging nature of South Summit’s music has earned them industry, media and radio acclaim, with triple j and Triple J Unearthed coming on as early champions of the group, nominating South Summit as Unearthed Artist Of The Year at the 2023 J Awards. The band have since hit rotation on the national youth broadcaster on multiple occasions, with an add for ‘Sidelines’ in 2023, as well as ‘The Bliss’ singles ‘Givin’ It Up‘ & ‘Ottoway’.

The band have a stacked schedule before they hit the road for their album tour in February; with upcoming appearances at Big Pineapple, Blues At Bridgetown, The Push All Ages Tour (with The Rions and Jem Cassar-Daley), Live at the Gardens (supporting Tash Sultana), Rolling Sets, NYE on the Hill and Good Gumnuts Festival.
