Tonight, at the Cherry Bar in Melbourne is the launch of Dracorex’s new single “Fucken Wild” with special guests Dreamworm and Gypsy Company.
Opening act Gypsy Company stepped in last minute to cover for Devil Monkey who had to cancel due to illness. Gypsy Company are a 4-piece band who have been together for only a year. They are fresh faced and full of youthful energy and fronted by vocalist Traci, with Dom on drums, lead guitarist Al and Dylan on bass.
Traci the latex clad lead singer reminded me of a young Ozzy Osborne but his voice gave me M Shadow, lead singer of Avenged sevenfold vibes. He has a theatrical, heavy rock sound to his strong voice. The band play a mixture of heavy rock, alternative with a touch of punk music. They play originals and covers of Alice in Chains, Silverchair and even Stevie Wonder’s “Higher Ground”. Dom on drums hits out a powerful beat backed up by Dylan’s solid bass playing and Al’s grunts guitar riffs.
Gypsy Company played a 30-minute set and as a opening act they really warmed the crowd up. By the time they played “My Shadow” they had the crowd fully involved. Gypsy Company are young talent on the rise to future stars. They have yet to release their music on Spotify, but you can find them on Facebook and Insta.

Second special guests on stage were Dreamworm. Dreamworm walked out to an already warmed up crowd and took them to the next level of partying. Dreamworm are a 4-piece metal band with Tom on lead vocals and guitar, Rick (also from Dracorex) on lead guitar, Trystan on drums and Sam on bass.
Dreamworm had a hiccup with the microphones on the first song but after a few beats the raw, monster growl of Tom’s voice came through. They are a heavy, loud, guitar lovers band. With head banging and mini mosh pits forming the crowd ate up every note played. They play a type of heavy music which gains its sound from metal, hard rock, punk and a pinch of classic rock. Dreamworm are entertaining and energetic.
The wooden floor of the Cherry Bar was bouncing to hot, sweaty, shirt off rock. Dreamworm played a 40-minute set comprising of 10 songs. Dreamworm released an EP “The Journey” early in 2024 and you can find their music on streaming services and social media pages. If you like it hard and heavy this could be the band for you.

It has been nearly a year since I last saw Dracorex live and tonight is a special night for them, it is the launch of their new single ‘Fucken Wild’ and lead singer James’s birthday. With party hats on and a crowd ready to go off, the stage lit up with pyrotechnics and the sound of sirens. Dracorex’s music filled the room.
Dracorex is a hard rock band full of passionate musicians fronted by James Brennan on vocals, Rick Grimm on lead guitar, Joey Allen on bass and Michael Maric on drums. Joey and Michael are the back bone of the band with their tight beats which leave Rick to show off his lead guitar skills, all held together with James’s powerful vocals. Their new single ‘Fucken Wild’ is a definite party anthem, with the floor bouncing, girls dancing and boys banging their heads, it was loved by the crowd. I even at one stage saw a can can line amongst the moshing pit.
Third song of the night ‘Pay to Pay’ was dedicated to tonight’s photographer. Smart move to suck up to the guy who you want to make you look good. Also his favourite track. Tonight was a celebration of Dracorex’s passion for live music and their 10-song set was a sweaty, tattoos-on-show rock party. Dracorex are releasing another new single on the 17th November. You can find their music on Spotify, YouTube and other social media pages.
