In 2025, an astonishing new era for Melbourne’s Thornhill will emerge, with the band today announcing their third studio album BODIES due out on April 4 via UNFD.
Following on from their ARIA Award-nominated 2022 opus Heroine, BODIES finds Thornhill elevating to spectacular new heights, offering an unbridled explosion of raw vulnerability fused with some of the band’s heaviest moments to date, with the album’s announcement also today accompanied by a brand new single and video, Silver Swarm.
“Silver Swarm is a visceral exploration of the emotional labyrinth created by overwhelming feelings and the toxic pull of manipulation,” shares the band of their latest single. “The track vividly captures the experience of being ensnared in an intense, destructive relationship, where one is both irresistibly drawn to and desperately repelled by the manipulator’s influence. The “silver swarm” becomes a powerful metaphor for the invasive thoughts and emotions that consume and cloud the protagonist’s sense of self.”
“With its dynamic shifts in tone and intensity, Silver Swarm mirrors the chaotic push and pull of such a relationship, oscillating between fear, confusion, and moments of clarity. It’s a haunting portrayal of the internal conflict that arises when love, control, and toxicity become entangled, leaving the listener to confront the complexity of being trapped in something both harmful and compelling.”
“Thornhill invites fans to dive deep into the raw, unfiltered emotions behind Silver Swarm—a track that not only resonates with the heart but also challenges the mind to unravel the intricacies of human connection.”
While 2022’s Heroine revelled in lush textures and bold, curated aesthetics, BODIES finds Thornhill opening the floodgates to spontaneity. Balancing intensity with boundless creative freedom and ingenuity, album #3 for Thornhill is not only a definitive snapshot of a band in full flight just shy of a decade into their staggering career; it’s also a celebration of authenticity and gripping dynamism from one of Australia’s most engaging heavy acts.
“BODIES marks a bold evolution in our ever-developing sound,” the band shares. “Heroine was defined by its meticulously crafted and tightly woven concept, but the weight of this careful construction sometimes overshadowed the energy of the music itself, leaving some listeners feeling disconnected. With BODIES, we have embraced a more immediate, unfiltered approach that feels like a lightning bolt, looking to capture the energy of “Thornhill right now.”
“The album thrives on spontaneity and freedom, foregoing rigid concepts in favor of pure, in-your-face authenticity. It’s less about delivering a carefully constructed narrative and more about creating a visceral, open-ended experience. BODIES serves as a sonic moodboard—a collection of feelings and vibes—intentionally left open to interpretation. It has an upbeat and almost celebratory, party energy at times, but also retains all the emotion and intensity Thornhill are known for, making it our heaviest and most explosive work to date.”
“With BODIES, we invite listeners to connect on their own terms. It’s raw, personal, and unapologetically immediate—a record that thrives in the moment, capturing our band at our most authentic and free.”
Globally renowned for their artful and engaging heavy creations, Thornhill possess a flair for gripping charm forged with unforgettable ferocity.
