In 2025 Australia will play home once again to the freshest up-and-coming artists in the scene with the return of NEW BLOOM FEST, a curated touring festival showcasing all things alt rock, post-hardcore, grunge, punk, and everything in between.
Last week we announced headline sideshows for BALANCE AND COMPOSURE, supported by GLITTERER, and DRAIN, supported by ONE STEP CLOSER; and today we’re back with more sideshow goodness, with NEW BLOOM FEST headliners BASEMENT locked and loaded for five shows ahead of the festival kicking off this March.
BASEMENT‘s headline sideshows will commence on Friday 28 February in Perth, then head to Adelaide on Saturday 1 March, Melbourne on Sunday 2 March, Wollongong on Wednesday 5 March, and Newcastle on Thursday 6 March.
With a seamless symmetry between 90s emo and grunge, channeled through a contemporary lens, Suffolk five-piece BASEMENT have journeyed through four studio albums, multiple periods of hiatus, headlined Outbreak Fest 2024 upon their return, ticked off an appearance at the iconic When We Were Young Festival and sold out the iconic Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles (3,000 tickets) within minutes of going on-sale; and all of this while also cultivating millions of streams, views and worldwide fans since forming back in 2009.
Evolving from serpentine pop punk leanings on their debut album, 2011’s I Wish I Could Stay Here, BASEMENT have gone on to knit beauty and brooding into honest, raw lyricism, big-room guitar soundscapes, and narcotic melodics, witnessed most ardently on their myriad of beloved singles including Covet, the breakout 2012 track from their sophomore album Colourmeinkindness which, as of late 2024, gifted BASEMENT their first gold single in the United States, and has generated over 160 million streams of Spotify alone and counting.
In a live setting, BASEMENT are no strangers to packed rooms full of crowd-surfers, carefully curated setlists that span fan-favourites and newer cuts, and an emotive surge that both tugs at the heartstrings and demands your attention from start to an exhilarating finish. Throughout their career, BASEMENT have performed alongside Weezer, Pixies and The Story So Far, as well as at Lollapalooza, Reading and Leeds Festivals, and Riot Fest. In 2025, the group will return down under for NEW BLOOM FEST and their own Aussie headline sideshows, before supporting Knocked Loose on a UK and European run.
Following its hugely successful inaugural year in 2024, including a sold out Melbourne event, NEW BLOOM FEST is back with a sweltering round two for 2025 in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, bringing the golden age of DIY hardcore shows and all things alternative into a modern setting. With a low ticket warning for Melbourne, and tickets selling fast in Sydney, don’t delay securing your NEW BLOOM FEST experience in 2025!
