The new single from Australia’s raucous marauding, grindcore ensemble King Parrot is here. “Target Pig Elite” is the latest offering from the bands long-awaited new full-length, A Young Person’s Guide To King Parrot, coming out on June 6.

The new video and single showcases live footage from the bands recent hometown show at
Max Watt’s in Melbourne. Expertly curated by video producer Dan Farmer, it also features artistic animation elements from the bands late artistic collaborator Boyd Synnott. With the blessing of Boyd’s family, the band have incorporated elements of Boyd’s artwork animation that fit perfectly with the theme of the new song.

Speaking about the new track and video vocalist Matt Young comments: “This is a special one for us as we’ve really wanted to honour our late friend Boyd Synnott with this new record. His massive contributions to our band over the years cannot be understated. It’s his artwork idea and concept for the album cover too. Incorporating his animation with this intense live footage adds a unique element that serves both song and video well. Lyrically the track is pretty self-explanatory, the world is moving into unprecedented times and rather than turning on each other, our aim should be focused on those causing the chaos in this world.”

King Parrot have been charging through Europe alongside Pantera and Power Trip over the last 3 weeks with the tour coming to a conclusion this past Tuesday, February 25 at Wembley Arena in London, a truly massive feat for the band after a successful trek through Europe and the UK.

Matt Young had this to say about the tour “It’s been an absolute blast to tour alongside Pantera in Europe and the UK and to see so many fans coming out, young and old to celebrate the legacy of the band. Pantera are more popular than ever and rightly so, those songs are untouchable. Sharing the road with Power Trip has also been an incredible experience, great dudes and phenomenal band, it’s great to see them back out and playing live where they belong.”

European fans can catch more of King Parrot all over the continent as they continue the journey with death metal legends Master for their 40th anniversary tour through March. “Touring alongside Master and paying our respects to the death metal legends is something we don’t take for granted. Anyone who is educated on death metal knows that Master have been there from the beginning, and for Paul and the band to be continuing after all these years is a remarkable accomplishment”.

A Young Person’s Guide To King Parrot marks the first new output in five years. A hostile and abrasive slab of sensory destroying anthems, the record features ten thoroughly crafted blasts through the psyche of this crazed Aussie quintet. Recorded at Melbourne’s Dangertone studios with engineer Luke Walton, it’s the first full-length album since 2017’s critically adored
Ugly Produce offering and their first new music since 2022’s Holed Up In The Lair EP.

Applying a similar approach to the writing process of their previous records, which has been historically organic and old-school, King Parrot adopted a new approach to the studio process. Pulling the new record together was a meticulously creative endeavour steered by guitarist Andrew Livingstone-Squires and vocalist Matt Young who comments, “Throughout the mixing process, we ensured that we got every element where we wanted it. Guitar and bass tones were experimented with until we found exactly what we wanted, the drum sounds were just right, and the performance was executed solidly. Vocally, I rehearsed a lot so that when I recorded it was a breeze.” The final product is the most complete, aggressive, and urgent the band has ever sounded.
