Triggerman – Atomic Rock Number 79 (EP)

Self Released - July 2016

If you’ve not checked out Triggerman before and love swampy Stoner hard rock then you’ll kick yourself if you miss this from Derry’s finest.

We love this EP…

Opening track ‘The Drift’ builds up a huge groove that just keeps on gathering moss till it’s a boulder big enough to smash you town and as it appears on that dark horizon it whistles past a whisker away from your home.

You try to sigh with relief but there’s not a moment’s peace before the rolling tribal grove of ‘Stone of the Philosopher’ rattles into town evermore dangerous and unhinged than the opener. I love the spoken, shouted vocal and the huge rolling groove it’s like it almost takes the ‘Peace Sells’ rap and blasts it apart with a huge Stoner slap around the head.

‘Rat Race’ is a chunkier proposition still but driven to hot rod speeds by drums and giant groove and mad vocal and riddled with a searing solo that makes you want to destroy!

We close with two songs you’ll love ‘Big John’ which struts and bristles and swaggers and shimmies slowly revealing the legend of ‘Big John’ via an almost tribal chant and some tortured wailing blues guitar, it’s so infectious you’ll be jumping even if the whisky spills! The title track ‘Atomic Rock Number 79’ closes things with a monolithic groove of epic proportions that can’t fail to move you.
