Perth’s favourite sons Verge Collection invite more friends to the party, introducing a healthy mix of supports to their national tour in support of debut album Flaneur, out March 30.
As Aussie as bare feet on hot bitumen and sticky fingers from melting bubble-o-bills the Western four piece’s debut record and follow up to 2016’s Open Plan Living EP showcases their evolution as artists. Don’t be fooled by jangly guitars, upbeat melodies and frontman Ben Arnold’s cheeky-charming accent though, Vergies cut close to the bone on Flaneur, examining themes of inadequacy, suburban disillusion and their own mortality.
The four-piece have been copping some big love from triple j, too. Single ‘So Vain’ receiving an old fashioned rinsing on Unearthed and most recent cut ‘Feelin’ Old’ added to spot rotation. Keeping to their laid back aesthetic, the boys released a playful new video for ‘Feelin Old’ that sees Arnold maxin’ the relaxin’ in true Vergies fashion with a tallie and a darb – ahhh the Australian bloody dream, mate!
Come April the band are packing up their live show and heading on the road for their largest national tour to date. Inviting a ragtag team of local legends to warm up the stage and good buddies White Blanks along for the ride. Fans are encouraged to get in early, because if 2017’s ‘For The Story’ sold out single tour is anything to go by, tickets won’t be available for long. Grab a pair at vergecollectionband.com
Debut album Flaneur is out physically on Friday 30 March via Rhubarb Records and digitally via Believe Distribution. Digital pre-orders via iTunes will be available from tomorrow, Friday March 2. Pre-order packages for ‘Flaneur’ are selling fast and available exclusively from RhubarbRecords.com.
