Adelaide metal band Shatter Brain has just released a video for ‘The Ship that Never Sinks’ from their upcoming split vinyl with Melbourne legends Blunt Shovel. Aptly titled ‘The Twelve Inch Split’, the vinyl is scheduled for release on August 3rd 2018. After releasing the critically-acclaimed ‘The Shatter Brain Demo’ in January, and touring Australia, New Zealand, and Asia, the band are keeping their foot on the pedal and will head back out on the road to support this release.
‘The Ship that Never Sinks’ incorporates the sound of ‘The Demo’ and expands on it, seamlessly blending thrash riffs, crossover sections, and sludgy grooves. The release is rounded out by a cover of Mastodon’s ‘Blood And Thunder’, and another original, ‘Respite’, which delves even deeper into the murky sludge the band finds themselves reveling in.
The multi-cam video for the track was filmed by Brett Hookham at the annual Heavy SA festival in Adelaide. This was the bands first hometown show after a run of dates throughout Australia and New Zealand, and the live energy captured on the night truly represents the band and serves the video well.

Shatter Brain will embark on a mini-tour with ‘split mates’ Blunt Shovel to promote the release, playing in Ballarat and Melbourne on August 3rd and 4th, respectively. For the Adelaide (10.08) and Warrnambool (11.08) shows the two bands will be joined by the mighty King Parrot for their last Australian shows before heading off to support Phillip H Anselmo and the Illegals in the USA.
‘The Twelve Inch Split’ is available for presale at the links below, with each presale customer receiving a free digital download of one song from each band. The Split will also be available from the bands at each show of the tour (until sold out), but there are only 250 pressings available so get in fast!
