The last time thrash metal legends Anthrax toured Australia was in 2013 for the now defunct Soundwave Festival and fans have been itching to catch the band live again ever since. The wait is over as the band are set to return down under for the 2019 Download Festival! After coming off a North American tour with Slayer for their final world tour and currently celebrating 30 years of iconic 1988 album “State Of Euphoria” with a re-release package, we chatted to drummer Charlie Benante about the latest with Anthrax and their upcoming tour to Australia.
ETHAN TREMBATH – ALIEN WEAPONRY
Three teenagers, known as Alien Weaponry, from a tiny town in the small South Pacific nation of New Zealand have managed to capture the imaginations of people all over the world with their unique thrashy groove metal sound and commanding live performances. Captivating audiences everywhere, the band recently signed to Napalm Records and now are set to return to Australia as part of the 2019 Download Festival. We had a chat to bassist Ethan Trembath about the rising success of the band and their upcoming appearance at Download.
Fresh from the release of their critically acclaimed third album, Acts of Fear and Love, UK punk duo Slaves featuring Isaac Holman (drums, vocals) and Laurie Vincent (guitar, vocals) are bringing their anthemic songs to Australia, smashing up festival stages and venues alike in a joyous, celebration of big riffs, big beats and even bigger choruses. We talk to Laurie about the band’s first trip to Australia, Download Festival and more.
It’s not often you see bands from Perth hit the big time but when one of your very own scores a coveted slot at the iconic Download Festival and in your home country, it’s exciting to see. None more are excited about it of course than the band themselves and Perth’s premiere prog giants Voyager are set to open the festival this weekend starting in Sydney. We caught up Voyager drummer Ashley Doodkorte to find out what it feels like to be a part of Download Festival plus all the latest with the band and more.
