Dutch alternative rock band Grenadeers have kicked off the new year with a new video! The band is on a continuous streak of releasing one song per month, for a whole year with the latest track ‘Trip Switch‘ made in collaboration with rock icon Alain Johannes (Queens of the Stone Age, Them Crooked Vultures). Their recent single ‘Gird’ was already featured in popular Spotify playlists, such as ‘All New Rock’ and ‘Rock United’.
‘Trip Switch’ is their first single of 2019! This heavy alternative, yet quite a danceable song, is about the struggles of being an introvert in an extraverted world. In the video accompanying ‘Trip Switch’ we see Guy Pek, Grenadeers’ drummer and songwriter, staring into the camera while being distracted in many ways, including but not limited to throwing food at him and covering him in soft drinks. Shot in one take, this video represents the often ridiculous distractions of the outer world and the way this introverted individual decides to deal with them: by doing nothing and trying not to laugh.
Grenadeers consists of five men with love for anything raw. Or in their own words: “Our take on rock ’n roll sounds like the love baby of Robert Fripp and Josh Homme playing in an empty trashcan in a deserted alley of oldtown Sin City, while he’s doing just fine.” The band tends to play angular riffs which contrast sharply with the dragging vocals from frontman Siep van Rijswijk. Their debut EP has been mixed by none other than Alain Johannes (Queens Of The Stone Age / Them Crooked Vultures) and was released in September 2016.
