Skate punk band The Decline unleash brand new single “Brovine” and announce new album

The Decline

Perth-based skate punk monsters The Decline are today unveiling their brand new single “Brovine“, which comes as the third single from upcoming album ‘Flash Gordon Ramsay Street‘, due for release on Friday August 30. Pre-orders live now through Pee Records!

“Brovine” is a punk anthem for animal rights. As the name suggests, “Brovine” is written from the activist’s perspective and challenges the counter arguments that vegetarians and vegans are hit with when justifying their decisions. Guitarist and vocalist Ben Elliot explains that “this song is about maintaining your rage about animal rights after a few years of being vegetarian/vegan, and some of the ridiculous things that people will berate you with.”

The lyrics “It’s only natural” and “How else will they get their protein?” bellow through the chorus as an example of the arguments presented to those who stand for their beliefs. “Brovine” fights against discrimination in the playfully honest way that The Decline master.

Accompanying the single is the fully animated music clip, made by Mike ‘Fox’ Foxall from The Art Of Fox, that presents each member as a cartoon character parodying the act of purchasing tofu from the grocery store, leading to a police chase from a couple of meat advocates. The policemen in the pursuit use meat as a weapon, throwing steaks and sausages at their victims, almost as a metaphor for their opinions.

The upcoming album ‘Flash Gordon Ramsay Street’ is produced, recorded, edited and mixed at Underground Studios (Roger Waters, Karnivool, Make Them Suffer) with Brody Simpson, Mark McEwen and The Decline, and is a collection of 17 punchy tracks ranging in length between just 5 seconds and 4 minutes. This huge offering has been pulled from the weird and wacky brain space of Pat Decline (Vocals & Guitar), Ben Elliott (Vocals & Guitar), Ray Ray (Bass & Backing Vocals) and Harry (Drums).

The album takes inspiration from subjects ranging from recipe’s for vegan buffalo wings, the property market vs. smashed avocado and Zelda gaming tips all the way to philosophical Marxist understandings of false consciousness. Pat Decline pins the main album themes down to “loss, moving on and letting go, identity, mortality and friendship. There’s a lot of references to a bunch of our favourite things like The Legend of Zelda, food, the ocean, and the fun times we have had getting in a van and playing skate punk.”

Since the release of their third album ‘Resister’ in 2015 on Australian label Pee Records, Perth based skate punk band The Decline have been touring Australian and international markets consistently, hitting the United States, The United Kingdom, Mainland Europe, Mexico and Australia annually. During these tours The Decline have shared the stage and the road with many
notable and prominent punk rock bands. Some of these include names such as; Face To Face (USA), Ignite (USA), C.J Ramone (USA), Frenzal Rhomb (AUS), A Wilhelm Scream (USA), Bodyjar (AUS), The Smith Street Band (AUS), The Bennies (AUS), Strung Out (USA), Guttermouth (USA), The Flatliners (CA) and Such Gold (USA) to name a few!

The Decline have impressed many melodic punk fans worldwide with their fast-paced and energetic style and catchy lyrical hooks, ‘Flash Gordon Ramsay Street’ will be available on Friday August 30. Pre-orders will be available at Pee Records. “Brovine” is out now on all digital platforms and streaming outlets.
