“Come Unstuck”, the third full length album from The Floors was unearthed and born in a rural abode in France while the band toured Europe in 2018.
Luke Dux speaks about the writing process: “It’s a rare thing to find all three of us in a room together. Touring with other bands keeps us apart, which is most likely why we still tolerate each other. With no outside distractions and a plentiful supply of wine, cider, beer, hash and cheese we spent four days jamming and writing in a small farmhouse in the middle of the French countryside. The perfect algorithm of quintessential + cabin fever= songs.”
The album speaks the idea of growing up and coming to terms with the distortion of life’s twists and turns. The title of the album, inspired by Kurt Vonnegut, ties in with the notion that we all lose our way at some point.
The Floors’ previous album “Beat It Down” was recorded on an 8 track tape machine; however this time, a broken tape-machine yielded an opportunity for The Floors to explore new sonic depth in their recording. A change in recording style saw the band move from live tracking, to a combination of the former, plus the added bonus of over-dubbing and more complex layering.
“The large room at Rada studios allows us to play live together and turn up as loud as we like with little bleed into the other mics. Finding the tape machine broken was a bummer at first but I think we ended up with a fuller, more realized record, rather than limiting ourselves to 8 tracks and no overdubs, like we usually do, we could record 600 plus bass guitar tracks.”
Recorded with producer Dan Carroll at Rada studios, The Floors have emerged with “Come Unstuck”; it’s all the same hard-hitting, bare-knuckled blues music you’ve come to know from The Floors, but with a few extra nuts and bolts thrown into the equation for good measure.
The album will be set free exclusively online and on vinyl August 26th via BEAST records.
