Showing off their anthemic rock tint like never before, Sunshine Coast’s glasshouse and their new release ‘pulp’ is a rock anthem undoubtedly made for the mosh. Paired with the announcement of their biggest tour yet, interstate and local fans alike can look forward to seeing the four-piece tear it up across the East Coast in November and December.
A fresh spin on the nostalgic alt-rock sound, ‘pulp’ builds seamlessly and tangles a frenzy of gritty guitar riffs, solos and heavy drum lines in an incredibly catchy fashion. Recorded and mixed by Brisbane legend Darek Mudge (Tired Lion, Screamfeeder) and mastered by Bryce Moorhead (Violent Soho), it’s no surprise the single flexes this huge sound.
Contrasted by frontman Caleb Anderson’s raw tone and sincere storytelling, ‘pulp’ is quickly engrossing. Touching on alienation, confusion and sexuality, Caleb wrote the first lines of the song three years ago when conceptualising a person he wished he knew, uncertain what gender they might be. “It meant a lot to me that I somehow found that person I was describing three years ago,” he explains.
The release of their previous single ‘hello’ showed off the diversity behind the band, scoring praise from the likes of The Music, Happy Mag, 4ZZZ and triple j Unearthed, not to mention their music video which saw plays on ABC’s rage. Since the release of their debut EP plastic last year, the four-piece have been tearing it up with international and local legends alike; The Growlers, Voiid, Pandamic and Something Something Explosion.
