ALBUM REVIEW: Re-Machined – Wheels Of Time

Pride and Joy Music - 21st February 2020

Nice ‘back to basics’ Rock and Roll always sounds good in the right hands and for all its lack of sophistication its hopefully more than compensated for by it soul. Re-Machined aren’t a band seeking to break any musical boundaries but when you hear this I hope like me you’ll take a moment to reflect on how obsessed we all are these days with genres and categorizing everything we hear. Sometimes you’ve just got to let that go and listen.

Here you get Hard Rock that still has the tang of the 70’s like on the chugging Demon-like ‘Brother Sun, Sister Moon’ and the more Metallic leanings of ‘Prisoner’ and ‘Go To Hell’ that sound like the NWOBHM that kick-started the 80’s. But there’s also that homegrown influence too of bands like Accept that led the way forward for Metal back in the day and helped it move away from the bluesier Hard Rock. That is felt none more so than on tracks like ‘Change Your Mind’ and the title track.

This is Classic Heavy Rock/Metal chock full of solos and great melodies and sometimes that’s all you really need.
