Metal United Down Under (MUDU) is an initiative to create a united event with many Australian cities and a wide range of metal and metal related genres. Everybody who is involved in metal can participate. The event consists of an average of 13 shows on the same day under the MUDU banner. MUDU offers bands a stage to extend reach and fan base and targets specifically Australian underground metal bands. On average 100 bands per year have participated over the last three years.
The MUDU team is finalising the list of participating cities for the fourth round of MUDU on 16 September 2017. So far the following venues have been booked:
Adelaide: Enigma Bar (Promoter: McEwen DIY Management & Touring)
Bendigo: MusicMan Megastore (Promoter: MusicMan Megastore)
Brisbane: The Backroom (Promoter: Metal of Honor)
Canberra: The Basement (Promoter: Lord Ragnar)
Darwin: Happy Yess (Promoter: Evel-E Productions)
Lismore: New Tattersalls Hotel (Promoter: Pulpitation Music Promotions)
Sydney: The Bald Faced Stag (Promoter: Metal-Roos & Deaf To All But Metal)
Shows are also planned in the following cities:
Hervey Bay (Promoter: Impale The Heart Productions)
Hobart (Promoter: Tyrantula Productions)
Melbourne (Megaton Music)
Perth (Promoter: Executioner Productions)
Wollongong (Promoter: Carbon Black)
Promoters are already working on their lineups with some nearly finalised. However, promoters are still welcome to join the MUDU team. Bands are invited to submit a song for the official MUDU compilation which will be distributed at the MUDU shows and at Wacken Open Air in Germany. The deadline for submissions is 31 March 2017.
