The extraordinary career of the prodigious, multi-talented and unclassifiable Australian singer songwriter, Joe Matera, takes a further twist…with a dash of Abba!
Matera’s infectious, pulsating new single, ‘Take A Look‘ is the third in a trilogy of Swedish rock-based recordings co-produced with legendary Swedish producer Tomas Skogsberg (Backyard Babies, The Hellacopters, Entombed).
It was a journey that began with 2019’s ‘Overload’ and continued the following year with ‘Only One’. Two contrasting and mesmeric songs, rooted to Joe’s love of the uniquely soulful guitar-led music that echoes from that fascinating and understated country.
On ‘Take A Look’, Matera is backed by a band comprising of Swedish musicians Janne Borgh on bass and Manne Åström on drums and, for the first time on a Joe Matera track, lead guitar is contributed by iconic Swedish guitarist Janne Schaffer (ABBA, Electric Banana Band).
The song is perfectly suited to Schaffer’s distinctive guitar-lines: As Janne notes: “It was very inspiring to play on ‘Take A Look’, it’s a beautiful tune, and it is the type of music I love very much”
