ALBUM REVIEW: Seventh Crystal – Delerium

Frontiers Records - May 14th 2021

From the stables of Frontiers’ never ending stream of modern Melodic Rock bands comes Sweden’s Seventh Crystal and their debut album ‘Delirium’.

Essentially it’s an album of high energy confident melodic rock and if you like opener and single ‘Say What You Need To Say’ which essentially lays out the template then ‘When We Were Young’ which follows it, is similarly high energy feel good melodic Rock that will tick your boxes.

And that indeed is the album – it’s nicely written, more than competently played and has the sort of melodies that are catchy as Pop but with the drive and sheen of Stadium Rock. Vocalist Kristian Fyhr has a great voice and he’s backed by some great musicians and in the eleven songs here there’s great consistency but you know that there’s nothing new and nothing groundbreaking here. It is however one of the best records I’ve heard on Frontiers this year.

Personally I could listen to music like this all day and if you like bands like Eclipse, H.E.A.T. and One Desire then this will be one for you. I’d love to see if they can pull this off live because if they can and they get the breaks the next one might be even better,
