Surprise Chef, Bumpy, Wax O Paradiso and Glass Beams are among the many incredible acts joining Cash Savage & the Last Drinks, C.W. Stoneking & his Primitive Horn Orchestra and FLOODLIGHTS at the inaugural Good Times festival this Saturday 25 March 2023 in Tocumwal NSW.
Sink into the 70’s funk and jazz influenced sounds of Melbourne’s own Surprise Chef – a band who has generated a quiet storm worldwide from their Coburg base. Their latest album Education & Recreation has led them to tour the world, including a slot at California’s Desert Daze festival. This will be one of their final shows before heading off on a European tour.
A staple of electronic music, iconic DJ duo Simon TK and Edd Fisher a.k.a Wax’o Paradiso will celebrate their 10th year playing together by delivering another journey into dance, disco and psychedelia.
Expect soulful reverberations from Bumpy in line with her latest stunning release “Morning Sun”. The solo project of singer-songwriter and proud Noongar woman Amy Dowd is already off to a killer start for 2023, after a win at the Music Victoria Awards with the Archie Roach Foundation Award For Emerging Talent.
One of the most talked about new bands of 2022, Glass Beams return to Tocumwal with their cyclical riffs, dizzying melodies, and trademark glittering masked regalia.
Also joining the bill is a cascade of emerging local talent – from Yorta Yorta blues aficionado Benny Walker, folk songstress Charly, neo-soul singer JUMAN, bluegrass wizards Collingwood Casanovas to the blended jazz and Brazilian sounds of Don Glori. Other household names on the lineup include Claps, Kuzco and PBSFM DJs Friday Young & Mz Rizk.
Good Times takes place at the same epic riverfront venue which traditionally hosts Strawberry Fields. A family-friendly event, the venue will be opened to a strict capacity of just 1,000 lucky souls and feature one intimate stage, riverfront hot tubs, an epic wood-fired food program, handpicked natural wines and a lush bedouin lounge.
After the cancellation of Strawberry Fields in October 2022 due to the devastating New South Wales floods, organisers are thrilled to be breathing life back into the venue with the debut Good Times event.
“We’re basically creating the vibe of a private party while leveraging the infrastructure of a major festival site,” say Festival Directors. “We’re proud to be showcasing what we think is some of the best in contemporary Australian music, food and landscape while also doing our part for the community.”
The festival is certainly stepping up to do its part by the community, with all profits from Good Times’ inaugural event to be rolled into the Strawberry Fields Community Grants Fund. The same Fund has contributed over $100,000 in microgrants to local community organisations and not for profits since 2015. Causes funded over the past year include the Tocumwal Girls Shed, Tocumwal Rural Fire Brigade, Berrigan Country Women’s Association, Tocumwal Swimming Pool, CanASSIST Finely, and Barooga Public School.
Local Berrigan Shire residents will also have exclusive access to a hefty 50% off Adult Tickets for Good Times, with any local U18’s attending free of charge. Locals can simply head to the Good Times website www.good-times.com.au to claim this offer.
Festival attendees will have the option of camping under the stars with a Camping Pass or taking up a classic Aussie motel room in the nearby town of Tocumwal. Shuttles will run from Tocumwal town to and from the festival for those staying off-site.
