Concert
Review 22nd
July 2009 at the PNC PAVILLION, CINCINNATI, OH Coverdale
sheds his skin and emerges as an AMERICAN! As a huge Whitesnake fan for the past
thirty years, and having seen them on many occasions with varying line-ups; I
was still very excited to see the boys in Cincinnati, Ohio in July. The PNC Pavilion at The Riverbend Music
Centre is an outdoor arena on the beautiful Ohio River. Although it was smaller
than expected, (not a bad thing), it was a great venue. The only criticism,
being that the sound quality could have been better. Mr Coverdale delivers every time, his voice
still brilliant after all these years, and the old songs still bring a tear to
the eye! With a great set, the majority of the songs
came off the 1987, Whitesnake album, and only one song, ‘Lay Down Your Love’
off the new album. Time honoured classics like ‘Fool For Your Lovin’’, ‘Crying
in the Rain’, and the final song, ‘Still of the Night’, still go down well with
fans. Reb Beach and Doug Aldrich play well together, and Uriah Duffy is a visual
delight!! Replacing Tommy Aldridge, Chris Frazier was the newest member of the
band, with the inevitable drum solo! A fabulous gig, and a great night was had
by all. Although, as Dave announced to the audience that he is now an American
citizen, my thoughts were, he’ll never be American, he’ll always be my
favourite Englishman!!! Cheers, Jo x
